Lithuania, The last day.

Ok, the last day.

Sorry to be blogging a bit later today, i blame the French for starting us on the 'frozen fire water' last night, still we all survived, just.

The guys have a 3.15 AAT today. The Standard class, 267.2k / 553.5k and the club class 220.3k / 438.2k. Both classes are tasked roughly in the same area south, west and then to the north around the Kaunas CTR.

The weather doesn't look as good as yesterday, we have a worry that the clouds will spread out and there may be rain showers but as always we shall have to wait and see.

Lithuania, all back

All our guys are back now, 'that was proper racing' says Howard!

George fell into a hole which took him a while to dig himself out of but he is pragmatic and he is still smiling.

I haven't seen Ian or Ken yet, they are still getting their gliders off the airfield

The furthest turnpoint we reckon was a 5-6 hour drive, just to get there, in deepest darkest Poland. So everyone in team GB is happy!

Day 13 tomorrow.....Then off to the Opens and Standards at Lasham!

Lithuania, launched

The guys are all airbourne now and waiting to start on the A task.

The sky looks good and i can hear happy calls on the radio. Unfortunately Ken and Ian have seen a glider in cloud again today this time before the start. It has been identified...

Lithuania, Friday morning

Morning all,

Yet another sunny day here in wonderful Lithuania. We have just come out of briefing and tasks have been set for all classes. The forecast is very good with the air from the north, strong thermals and about 1700m cloudbase.

Racing tasks for everyone. The Standard class have been set 503.6k with the first leg south west down into Poland for 187.1k then south and west, followed by a long run back north and home.

Luthuania, all back

All the guys are back now, downloading flight recorders and waiting for everyone else to do the same so we can see some proper results.

The scoring system scores within 5 minutes usually less, of the trace being sent by the pilot to the scorer on the comp website. Why can't we do that in the UK? Its only seeyou after all. Or maybe i missed something and we do?

Lithuania, weather

Ian is back. The forecast showers and spreadout appear not to have happened, the sky looks great from where i am sitting. I haven't spoken to Ian yet he is still towing the glider off the airfield

No news from the others yet  but the radio is starting to make crackling noises so they are getting within range. Ken started a bit later than the others so probably won't say much anyway as he will have been on his own.

Lithuania, Radio call

Ian is on glide and 20k out

GEG

Lithuania, launched

The guys have now launched on task A (which on the task sheets said task B, a little confusing))

They are all milling around now waiting for the start lines to open, clubbies at 12.48 and the standards at 12.55. Good climbs being reported but with the worry thrown in that the clouds could easily over develop.
