Before coming to Texas, I wouldn't have dreamt of starting a 560k task at 14:37! We had decided that it would be good if we were able to start a couple of minutes after the main gaggle but as it turned out it took another 5 minutes to be in a position to go so we ended up heading off 7 minutes behind. We pushed hard on the first 2 legs and finally started picking up the tail end of the main gaggle near the second tp and eventually got on top by the 3rd tp. We then throttled back and cruised round the rest of the task.
A very good day for team GB with Pete showing us that you can make a 23m glider go as well as a 18m and a strong performance in the extreme ironing (15m) class, with Matt recovering well after an unlucky start.
